West House Painting

Lead-Safe Painting in Longview & Vancouver, WA

Homes built before 1978 may have lead-based paint under the current coats. Disturbing it by scraping or sanding without controls spreads lead dust where children and pets live. Federal RRP rules apply, and we follow them.

We test suspect surfaces, set up containment, use wet methods and HEPA vacuums, and give you a cleanup record. The calculator applies a pre-1978 factor so the price accounts for it.

Process

How we handle lead-safe painting

  1. 01

    Test

Surfaces that will be disturbed are tested and results written down.

  2. 02

    Contain

Plastic sheeting, sealed doorways, signage. Exterior: ground covered 10 ft out.

  3. 03

    Work wet

Misting before scraping, HEPA-shrouded sanders, no heat guns above 1100°F.

  4. 04

    Clean and verify

HEPA vacuum, wet wipe, verification cards, record handed to you.

Longview, Kelso and the older neighborhoods of Vancouver have a lot of housing from the 1920s–1970s. If your home is from that era, say so on the estimate form or in the calculator so the price is right the first time.

Lead-Safe Painting questions

Does lead-safe work cost more?

Yes, roughly 30–60% more on the prep portion, which is why the calculator has a pre-1978 setting. Exact cost is in the proposal.

Do I need to leave the house?

Not usually. The work area is sealed. Children and pregnant women should stay out of that area until cleanup is verified.

Will you remove all the lead paint?

No. Lead-safe painting stabilizes and encapsulates. Full abatement is a separate specialty.
